Why Bebello are climate optimists

Bebello are climate optimists.

Can you imagine a world where the air we breathe in towns & cities is as fresh as in the mountains? When trucks and buses speed past us on our pram walks, they are silent and pollution free. Where the sea and rivers are crystal clear and safe to swim in. Where an abundance of tree’s shade us from the summer sun and our parks and countryside are packed with wildlife.

Believe it or not, this is the world we are quickly heading towards, but somehow the message is getting lost.

Why are Bebello so optimistic?

The positive environmental change that is happening is often lost amongst the negative stories that hog the headlines.

Reasons to be cheerful:

  1. Change happens fast, but we are slow to notice it. The UK has reduced carbon emissions by over 50% from 1990, and is adding huge amounts of renewable energy capacity to drive emissions down further.
  2. The world’s two largest economies are utterly committed to a clean energy transition. This means the cost of clean energy technologies will continue to fall dramatically, enabling lower income countries to skip the polluting fossil-fuel powered growth phase that most countries go through.
  3. Circular economy business models are beginning to take off. Manufacturing is responsible for roughly 50% of emissions and the circular economy will move us away from the “take-make-waste” approach that has caused so much environmental harm over the past 100 years.

What are Bebello doing?

Bebello are a new type of company who have embedded the Circular Economy into the way we do things.

This means that our products are designed to 1) last longer, 2) be 100% repairable and critically; 3) we own the end-to-end product lifecycle.

When a Bebello Washer reaches its end-of-life, we break it down into its core material streams. For example, this means the plastic can be re-ground and recycled at 100% quality (a BIG deal).

Bebello Washer also reduces the carbon emissions associated with handwashing by up to 78%, by moving people away from using huge amounts of water heated by burning gas.

We are so confident in our mission and direction that we have set NetZero emissions and ZeroWaste targets for 2026, hitting our legal obligations 24 years early.

Just imagine the world we could live in if all other companies moved this fast?
